Greenport pair, from October drug raid, plead guilty

On March 28, 2019, AmarKeitt was convicted by plea of Attempted Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd Degree, Honorable Jonathan D. Nichols presiding. The Court will sentence AmarKeitt on May 23, 2019. Columbia County Sheriff David P. Bartlett's Office investigated that matter and arrested AmarKeitt. The Public Defender represents AmarKeitt.  (SCI No. 016-19)

SHERIFF’S OFFICE ARRESTS TWO AFTER EXECUTING SEARCH WARRANT IN GREENPORT

Greenport, NY- Columbia County Sheriff David P. Bartlett reports the arrest of two local individuals by the Sheriff’s Office Drug Education and Enforcement Unit as a result of a drug investigation in the Town of Greenport, which lasted for several months.

On Thursday, October 25, 2018, at approximately 10:15pm, members of the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office, the Columbia-Greene Shared Response Team, Hudson Police Department, and New York State Parole executed a search warrant, which was signed by Columbia County Court Judge Richard Koweek.

The search warrant was for a residence at 156 Ten Broeck Lane, apartment 6, in the Town of Greenport where officers arrested two individuals. While executing the warrant, 186 bags of heroin, about 10 grams of cocaine, drug packaging material, scales, and US currency were recovered. The heroin seized has a street value of approximately $2,800.

Arrested at this location were Amar Keitt, age 43, and Courtney Keitt, age 43, both of 156 Ten Broeck Lane in Greenport.

Amar Keitt and Courtney Keitt were both charged with 2 counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree with intent to sell, a Class B Felony. Both defendants were arraigned in Claverack Town Court before Judge Brandon and remanded to the Columbia County Jail. Amar is being held with no bail and Courtney is being held in lieu of $60,000 bail or $100,000 bond. Both are scheduled to appear in Greenport Town Court on October 31. 2018.

Assisting the Sheriff’s Office with this case were Capital District Drug Enforcement Task Force (DEA), New York State Police, and the Columbia County District Attorney’s Office.
