We received reports this morning, of possible attempted kidnappings at the Hudson Walmart, so we contacted Columbia County Sheriff David Bartlett.
The Sheriff then put out this statement on his Facebook page:
REPORTS OF ATTEMPTED KIDNAPPINGS AT LOCAL WALMART UNFOUNDED
We have received a couple of reports of possible attempted kidnappings at Walmart. These reports have been circulating through social networking sites.
I have spoken with my dispatch, the Chief of Police for the Town of Greenport and a Walmart supervisor. There have been NO reports of any attempted abductions at the Greenport store.
If anyone has had any incidents where there was a possible attempted abduction please call the Sheriff’s Office. A Deputy or Town of Greenport officer will be dispatched to interview you.
