July Events at the Kinderhook Library

Throughout the summer, kids, teens, and adults can sign up for our Summer Reading Program! For all of the reading you do throughout the summer, you can earn raffle tickets to win great prizes. Stop by the library to sign up and check out the prize baskets up for grabs!

Reptile Adventure

Tuesday, July 2 at 11am

Come meet reptile educator Jessica Shea and some of her scaly, slithery friends! She will introduce us to several kinds of snakes, lizards, and tortoises. Afterwards, kids will be able to pet and hold some of them!

Family Movie Matinees

Wednesdays, Jul 3, 10, 17, and 24 at 2pm

Come in and cool off with a different space-themed movie each week. Titles will be announced at a later date, and will range between G and PG ratings, so please feel free to call ahead for more information!

Animals in Space

Saturday, July 13th at 11am

Come and meet animals that have gone into space with the astronauts. See geckos, snakes, tortoises, and more!

College Readiness Panel

Saturday, July 20 at 11am

RPI’s Society of Women Engineers will visit the Library for a panel discussion on college readiness. This discussion is perfect for any high school student thinking about their future at college, particularly in a STEM related field.

Ensemble Congeros

Sunday, July 21 at 4pm

Dr. Eddie Ade Knowles is Founder and Artistic Director of Ensemble Congeros, a group of RPI alums and students dedicated to the study of Afro-Cuban, African, and New World percussion. Congeros are known for their commitment to rhythm and the drum as the central medium of communication. Join us for an afternoon of chasing the rhythm with this fantastic group that will have you tapping your feet and moving in your seats!

Family Star Wars Day

Tuesday, July 23 at 11am

Bring the family to a galaxy far, far away for an awesome Star Wars day! Come make crafts at 11am, play Family Star Wars Trivia at noon, and stick around for a movie at 1pm!

Blast Off With Reading!

Tuesday, July 30 at 11am

Learn about the history of flight and space exploration with the Dirtmeister! He may even shoot off some rockets this year! For ages 6+

Harry Potter Birthday Week

Celebrate the most famous boy wizard with us for his birthday! On Friday, July 26th at 5:30pm, teens can come learn to make their own wands out of simple materials. On Sunday, July 28th at 2pm, families can come for our Harry Potter escape room! Work together to solve puzzles and protect the sorcerer’s stone. On Wednesday, July 31st from 6-7pm, come to the library for a costume contest, Harry Potter trivia, snacks, food, games, and more! Happy Birthday, Harry!
