Frightening incident at Catskill apartment building

A frightening incident took place last Thursday at 21 Howell Street in Catskill.

Lieutenant Frascello of Catskill village Police tells us, between 2 and 3 in the morning 28 year old Artyom Bourlak, who owns the building, allegedly held a samurai sword against his roommates chest as he slept.

When the roommate awake an argument broke out. Bourlak then poured gasoline all over the room, while holding a lighter.

During this period Police were called and arrived before the lighter was used.

Artyom Bourlak was charged with reckless endangerment and criminal possession of a weapon, both felonies. He was also charged with menacing and taken to the Greene County Jail on 25,000 dollars bail.

Police did not report any injuries. They say, a mother and child were living on the first floor at the time, and things could have turned out differently.

Catskill firefighters were called to the scene to ventilate the building and shut off the electric.
