Trial scheduled for sex offender

A convicted sex offender, who was the subject of a search last December, is scheduled to face trail later this year.

Police were looking for 34 year old Russell Meyer of New Lebanon, after he allegedly failed to register as a sex offender.

He appeared today in Columbia County Court:

On February 25, 2019, Russell Meyer waived indictment and was arraigned in County Court upon being charges with Failure to Register/Verify as a Sex Offender, Honorable Richard M. Koweek presiding. The Court has scheduled a trial for August 19, 2019. Columbia County Sheriff David P. Bartlett's Office investigated this matter and arrested Russell Meyer. The Public Defender represents Russell Meyer. Russell Meyer is presumed to be innocent unless and until the People can prove his guilt beyond a reasonable doubt to all twelve (12) of twelve (12) jurors. (SCI No. 012-19)
