Leeds man accused of impersonating his brother

From Saugerties Police:

Date of Incident: 02/03/2019

Charges: Criminal Impersonation in the 2nd Degree; Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle in the 2nd Degree; Operating a Motor Vehicle without an Ignition Interlock Device, Fail to Use Directional Signal, unauthorized Display of Blue Lights.

Person Charged: Peter Malloy

Charged Person’s Age: 29

Address of Person Charged: Catskill

Narrative of What Occurred:

During Routine Motor Patrol Malloy was observed making a left turn without using a directional signal. Malloy was also observed displaying unauthorized blue lights that were on located on the cab of his pickup truck.

Upon stopping Malloy, Peter Malloy identified himself as his brother Chris Malloy. Further investigation proved that the individual was actually Peter Malloy. A file check of Malloy revealed that Malloy has a revoked license due to a previous DWI arrest and conviction. As a result of that arrest, Malloy was under court order to have an Interlock ignition device installed in any vehicle he operates.

Malloy was arrested and processed at Saugerties Police Headquarters on the Misdemeanor Charge of Criminal Impersonation in the 2nd Degree; Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle in the 2nd Degree and the Violations of Operating a Motor Vehicle without an Ignition Interlock Device, Fail to Use Directional Signal, unauthorized Display of Blue Lights. Incidental to processing

Malloy was released on an Appearance Ticket and Traffic Summons to appear in the Village of Saugerties Justice Court to answer his charges.
