Philmont man arrested following domestic dispute

Philmont, New York – 

On January 3, 2019, the New York State Police from the Livingston barracks arrested Joshua A. Charron, age 21, of Philmont, for Assault in the 2nd degree, a class D felony, Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 4th degree, Criminal Mischief in the 4th degree preventing an emergency call, and Resisting Arrest, all class A misdemeanors.

On January 3, 2019, at approximately 2:30 a.m., Troopers responded to 23 Main Street for a welfare check after a partial 911 call was received. 

Investigation found Charron engaged in a domestic dispute, and struck the victim with a baseball bat. When the victim attempted to call 911, Charron destroyed the phone. Charron fled from his residence and was located a short time later, but resisted as Troopers took him into custody. 

Charron was arraigned before the village of Philmont, and remanded to the Columbia County Jail in lieu of $5,000 cash bail or $10,000 bond. He is next scheduled to appear before the Court on January 8, 2019, at 10:00 a.m.
